DVD Duplication Equipment: Purchasing Tips
It seems simple enough. You’ve got a huge project looming, you know you’ll go nuts if you have to burn one disk at a time. A DVD duplication system could help — that is, if you could choose one. Here are some purchasing tips for DVD duplication systems:
- How much are you willing to spend. While this shouldn’t be the deciding factor, price can make a difference. Systems run typically from a few hundred to a few thousand. If you want a system that has quick capabilities and great software you’ll be spending more than the low end. But there are plenty of options today. Shop around before hand and you’ll be able to come close if not perfectly matched to what you want.
- Think about tech support. Are you super tech savvy — well, you may not need much. If you’re like the majority of us setting up any new system can be cumbersome. A little help is usually welcome. Make sure that the company you go with offers superior tech support. Ask you friends who they’ve had luck with.
- Buy the right amount of system. If you aren’t duplicating huge amounts than automated high capacity systems may be more machine than you need. On the other hand someone with large project needs is going to get frustrated pretty quickly if the duplicators capacity runs low.
- What’s new today is old news tomorrow. Be sure to keep in mind upgrade possibilities when you buy.
- Formatting counts. If you’re going to be using special formatting make sure the system you purchase can handle it. With the varying DVD standards it’s a good idea to get a system with dual-format drive capacity.
- Gossip with others about reliability. Many dealers carry more than one type of duplicator. Ask knowledgeable salespeople or buddies who’ve bought systems about how reliable different systems are. Ask many people, not just two. Everyone will have a different story.
This is merely a jumping off point. Narrow your choices down and really focus on each system. The more research you do the better duplication system you’ll end up with and the happier you’ll be.
