DVD Marketing - Lost A Job? Not To Worry
A few days ago a friend of mine lost his job. He is about 50 something years of age, and he has several degrees. He lost his job at a rather comfortable position, in a field where if you get a job the pay can be good (scientist), but often there is stiff competition in the good paying arenas. In any case, he went from making almost $300,000 a year, to now being jobless.
The bills are piling up and he is frantically trying to find another job. Of course he called me to help him with some ideas. One of the things I always advise people, even if they aren’t in a business of their own is to market themselves. Even if you’re currently sitting in a job that you love and that there is no chance of you ever leaving or getting fired, STILL send out your resume to other companies. Don’t stop doing this for as long as you are able to work. Why? Because things happen. Unforeseen events happen. Things change. You don’t want to be left between a rock and a hard place when they do.
Don’t depend on just one job to be your sole means of survival. Listen, having a mortgage payment, utility payments, grocery bills, credit card bills, hospital bills all piling up on you and you don’t have a way to pay them is a nightmare! Do something to protect yourself from that happening.
What Can You Do?
With professions such as my friend who earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, I answer with DVD Marketing. Again, DVD Marketing is not just for business owners. DVD Marketing is a unique way to stand out from the thousands of other applicants and prospects. Even if your profession is similiar to that of a scientist, where you’re in a laboratory and accumulating data and testing things, you can still promote yourself through DVD Marketing. By simply getting in front of a video camera and explaining who you are and what you do, you make your resume and your job application more personable. The prospective employer gets to see a face with that piece of paper, and that means a lot.
Remember Your Prospective Employers Are Still Humans - DVD Marketing Touches Them Emotionally
Contrary to what you may have been told or believe, people hire other people based on emotions. Think about all of the wonderful and talented musicians that are playing on the street corners of Chicago, Nashville, New York, LA, etc., and then listen to some of the garbage you hear on the radio. It’s those people who are able to reach beyond and make themselves stand out and be special…. be unique that get the attention, and ultimately the job.
If you’re currently employed, you will still want to consider promoting yourself to other companies who could possibly offer you a higher salary, and a better job position. Don’t stop filling out applications and sending out resumes. You never know what openings may come along. You never now if you’re going to be let go or fired or if your company suddenly folds. Be on the safe side, and have your name already out there. This is especially true if you’re working in a high end industry where the salary is high and the skill level is complicated, such as technology.
DVD Marketing is not just for businesses, it’s for anyone who wants to have a greater chance of success, and who wants to grab people’s attention.
