How To Create Your Own Films

Independent film making is film making out side of the Hollywood studio system. The term describes less commercially driven art films. these differ from the normal plot driven or mainstream films. They produced by smaller studios. A lot of independent film makers are also like you and me, small time producers who may only have a basic video camera.

You can easily create your films

The first thing you need is a digital camera. Digital cameras let you experience brightness and color of each pixes. It also lets you have more flexibility with your post production. You’ll enjoy a much higher resolution in your films and the spatial dimension and total dimensions will be much more detailed and intense. You’ll enjoy much more control over colorimetry through your entire production process.

Some of the better video cameras that are recommended for your basic film productions are:

  1. Aiptek IS DV2.4 Multi Vunction Digital Video Camera - this one is a great camera for your films. It has five functions in one, 5 mega pixels, 4x digital zoom, mp3 player and data storage device.
  2. Canon Xh A1 MiniDV HD Camcorder - This is the top of the line as far as I’m concerned. It has MiniDV, High Definition recording, Digital stills, remote control, 2.8. widescreen, 20x optical zoom. This one is a must have if you want high quality films.
  3. Sony HDR - FX7 High Defintion MiniDV Camcorder - HD MiniDV camcorder, 2.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 3CMOS sensor, Professional-quality lens, 3.5 wide hybrid LCD, 1.03 megapixel stills.
  4. Sony Handycam HDR-UX10 DVD HD Camcorder - DVD recording, 15x optical zoom, has optical image stabilizer, 1920 x 1080 Full HD, and face detection. Definitely a great cam for your films if you’re on budget.
  5. Panasonic SDR-SW20S SD Card Camcorder- SIlver SDRSW20S - This camera records to SDHC cards, it comes with 15 x optical zoom, has 2.7 LCD widescreen, Electronic image stablizer and comes with water shock, dust proof material, it has a highly compact design.

These are just some of the cameras that are recommended for your film if you’re on a budget. There are way more expensive models and if you have the budget, I suggest spending as much as possible on your digital camera. They can run anywhere from $200 to $20,000 or more. Obviously, as a film maker, the more money you spend on quality, the more results you’ll see in your films.

Next, we’ll discuss the software you’ll need to produce high quality films. There are two different kinds of software.

    Video editing software
    DVD production software

Let’s talk about video editing software first. There are so many programs, I’ve picked out a handful that I like for my films. The first one is Ulead Video Studio Plus. This is a good choice for films and film makers that are newbies and pros. It comes with multitrim fucntion, HDV proxy editing, HD DVD out put on legacy drives, backlight and video noise filtering.

Next in line is Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 11. This program is my all time favorite, because it has enough features for most home film production. It is easy to use and it has a third party slide show tool, audio noise removal, effects package and theme specific titles, menus and transitions. Great for newbies and advanced a like.

Both of these programs will also burn your DVD’s. Now, if you’re looking to distribute your films, you’ll definitely need a DVD publisher. When you have a DVD publisher, you are able to publish your DVD on an as needed basis. Perhaps you have a website up of your films and people order them from there. You may not need a million DVD’s right now, but instead you’ll just have a few hundred at a time. This is where a DVD publisher is going to benefit you because your films are experiencing a consistent growth spurt.

Getting your film created, published and distributed is not the easiest thing in the world, but it can be done. Let us help you with your films today.

What DVD publisher do you recommend for small newbies, that can be viewed by most common programs included in most computers and/or on a TV?
For the moment, I just want something simple that has a slide-show and audio. I will be selling them so I need one for commercial purposes.
